SOCIAL PURPOSE ASSOCIATION
A social purpose association is an association whose raison d’être is to create a better world. A social purpose association has a North Star that sets out why the association exists – the greater good it aspires to. An association who has a social purpose as its reason for being serves society, in addition to serving its members. PURPOSE GOVERNANCE FRAMEWORK
A board of directors is responsible for ensuring the organization achieves its Purpose. Boards need to ensure the organizational Purpose remains relevant and future-fit, and that it drives strategy and decision-making. PUBLIC POLICY OPTIONS TO ADVANCE SOCIAL PURPOSE (CONSULTATION DRAFT)
This Policy Brief explores government reforms and policy measures that support and incentivize businesses and entrepreneurs to adopt and implement a social purpose as the reason they exist. It is a proposed list of roles and measures local, provincial, and federal governments can play to mainstream social purpose in business life. INTRODUCTION TO SOCIAL PURPOSE PROCUREMENT
Social purpose companies and other organizations are encouraged to engage their suppliers, vendors, and contractors on adopting and implementing a social purpose as the reason they exist. This tool is designed for procurement managers and buyers to begin raising social purpose awareness with their suppliers and prospective suppliers. Click here to access it.

The Social Purpose Assessment helps companies measure the degree to which they have a compelling purpose, and how much the purpose is embedded in the company and its relationships. Click here to access it.
PURPOSE EDUCATION IN CANADIAN BUSINESS SCHOOLS
Canadian Business Schools have a central role to play to accelerate social purpose in business. They can educate current students and their alumni on purpose primacy over shareholder primacy. The Social Purpose Institute conducted a scan to assess the degree to which social purpose business models are taught in business schools across Canada. The research shows this is not yet an explicit focus in business school education. Click here to access it.
